“Construction is back” – those are the words of the Construction Industry’s Training Board (CITB).

The organisation recently released their Construction Skills Network Forecasts for the five years covering 2016-2020 and claim that construction is the industry to be involved in. In the past year we have seen significant investment in infrastructure and private housing projects, and this is expected to result in continued growth of 2.5% per year over the five years – returning the industry to levels not seen since before the 2008 crash.

With that in mind, the CITB predicts that more than 230,000 jobs will be created across the country by the end of the decade. They suggest that areas that particularly need addressing are:

  • Civil engineers
  • Painters and decorators
  • Construction managers
  • Plumbers
  • Electricians

In the East of England alone it is predicted that a growing construction sector will help to generate 14,000 jobs, supported by projects such as the new A14 dual carriageway, a new tech park in Downham Market and the £500 million expansion of Cambridge University.

As a company that relies heavily on a strong construction industry, the investment we are seeing in infrastructure projects is fantastic news and helps us to continue growing.

Working With BMA Specialist Coatings

At BMA we pride ourselves on having an extensive labour force, all of whom are employed directly by the company. This ensures that we can be flexible and responsive to the needs of our clients.
