How buildings will perform in the event of fire is now at the heart of modern day building design. It is commonplace in the design of buildings such as schools, shopping centres and hotels for a safe passage of exit to be created to help people evacuate during a fire. As one of the UK’s leading commercial decorating companies, we specialise in providing an extensive range of specialist paints – one of which is intumescent coatings.
What Is The Difference Between Intumescent And Standard Paints?
Unlike the standard paints that you may use when decorating at home, intumescent paints are designed to restrict the spread of fire across a surface. As they become hot, the paint releases a flame dampening gas which helps to quell the fire. They can be applied to a wide range of surfaces including soft and hardwoods, MDF and chipboard, brick, stone, plaster, metal and concrete. Intumescent paints are therefore suitable for a wide variety of applications, including:
- Walls
- Floors
- Doorways
- Work surfaces
- Cladding
- Exposed steelwork
Trained Team of Decorators
All of the intumescent paints that we use are tested against British Safety Standards BS 476, part 7 and our team of highly skilled decorators have received the training necessary to ensure that they are correctly applied. On top of that, every member of our team is CSCS accredited and you can therefore be confident that they have the training and skills required to safely and efficiently complete any commercial project to the highest of standards.
