Location: Norwich
Project Awarded By: Morgan Sindall
Specialist Paints Used: Crown Clean Extreme
Project Duration:
During the summer of 2015 the University of East Anglia, through contractor Morgan Sindall, carried out work to fully refurbish one of its largest accommodation blocks, Paston House. The building, situated on the university’s main campus in Norwich, was completely gutted before being redecorated and fitted out for the new term.
A key factor in this project was the window of opportunity to complete the work – all works had to be completed without fail in time to accommodate students returning for the new academic year. Having worked on a previous project with Morgan Sindall, they were aware that we had the capabilities to complete the work within the allotted timeframe.
For this project we carried out all internal decoration of the Paston House building. This included 288 bedrooms and en-suite bathrooms – including a communal kitchen for every 10 rooms. In addition to that we also decorated all of the public hallways and stairwells.
The paint specified was white Clean Extreme from Crown Paint and every room was decorated to an incredibly high standard by hand – due to the limited space and the amount of cutting required, spraying the walls was not possible. However, with at least 20 operatives working on the site at any one time, we were still able to complete the work ahead of schedule.
When it comes to a project of this scale, Morgan Sindall will only work with companies who can demonstrate that they are CSCS and Safe Contractor accredited. At BMA, all of our operatives hold a valid CSCS accreditation and have received the necessary training in all of the paints we use to ensure a high end finish every time.
Following this project, we have been awarded the contract to decorate a further 60 rooms in a separate building on the site.
